A new report on the impact of COVID-19 on the quality of life of patients treated with Viagra shows that the drug was approved by the FDA in March as a treatment for pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs) in the United States, as well as for the treatment of Raynaud's phenomenon, a type of skin rash. The study’s results were based on a series of observational studies, conducted in France, which showed that the use of Viagra in patients diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension was not associated with a reduced risk of death or serious cardiovascular events compared to a placebo.
In a separate analysis, published in theAnnals of Internal Medicine, the results were compared to a larger French study, which compared Viagra with the placebo. The findings revealed a decrease in the use of Viagra in patients with high blood pressure, a decrease in the use of Viagra in patients with Raynaud's phenomenon, and a reduced risk of death or serious cardiovascular events.
